"Carbon neutrality” brings new changes to the supply side of the glass industry
2023-04-24
In the high-energy-consuming industry, “carbon neutrality” is expected to bring about total supply control and an increase in the share of dominant companies.According to the calculation of 360 tons of carbon dioxide emitted per unit of 10,000 heavy boxes, China's flat glass carbon dioxide emissions in 2020 will be about 34 million tons, accounting for about 0.33% of the country's carbon emissions; although the total carbon emissions of glass are small, they belong to the high-energy consumption industry. The carbon emissions of the glass industry mainly come from three aspects: fossil fuel combustion emissions account for more than 60% of the carbon emissions of glass production, and the carbon dioxide formed by the decomposition of raw materials or carbon oxidation accounts for 25%-27%, and electricity emissions account for about 13%.For the flat glass industry, the conversion of natural gas through compressed supply and fuel is the most effective way to achieve carbon reduction. Among them, “coal to gas” has more room for carbon reduction and mainly relies on environmental protection policies to promote it. This will change the industry in the past. The phenomenon of bad coins driving away good coins, accelerating the survival of the fittest, and the concentration of the industry is expected to increase rapidly.
